MB Well Services welcomed a delegation from OMV Petrom for a two-day knowledge exchange at the Salzwedel and Celle locations.
In calendar week 24, MB Well Services welcomed six employees of OMV Petrom, Romania, to Germany for an intensive two-day technical exchange. The aim of the meeting was to share experience and best practices in the fields of workover and plug & abandonment (P&A), while further strengthening international collaboration.
The first day of the program took the delegation to MB Well Services’ main site in Salzwedel, which serves as the central hub for the company’s heavy workover rigs. During a comprehensive site tour, the visitors gained detailed insights into warehousing, logistics, as well as workshop and maintenance operations. A particular highlight was the visit to a heavy workover rig actively engaged in a P&A campaign. This provided a valuable opportunity for hands-on discussions about operational processes, technical challenges, and innovative solution approaches directly on site.
On the second day, the focus shifted to the Celle location, which plays a key role as the central base for light workover hoists. Here, the guests were also introduced to the site’s infrastructure as well as organizational and technical workflows. The program was complemented by a visit to an active unit, allowing participants to observe operations in a live environment.
The open exchange between experts from both companies offered valuable insights into different approaches and strengthened the shared understanding of current challenges and opportunities within the industry. Especially in light of increasing demands regarding efficiency, safety, and sustainable decommissioning processes, the importance of international cooperation and knowledge sharing became evident.
Ewald Stöcke, General Manager of MB Well Services, emphasized the importance of such exchanges:
“In a continuously evolving industry, it is essential to look beyond one’s own perspective. Open exchange with international partners enables us to gain new insights and to jointly develop sustainable solutions for future challenges in the workover and P&A sector.”
The successful meeting lays a solid foundation for further deepening the collaboration between MB Well Services and OMV Petrom and once again highlights the importance of strong, partnership-based international dialogue within the energy industry.
